Pro-Streetcar Law Firms Stand to Win Big Streetcar Accident Damages

Hi, Yupette,

Thanks for your blog.

Have you Googled "streetcar accidents" and "trolley accidents" lately? Check out all the ads by the ambulance chasing law firms. You can also Google the names of the DC-area firms that are pro-streetcar to see which ones have practice areas that include negligence and personal injury.

If you want to see how much Arlington taxpayers and local health insurers are going to pay out from streetcar accidents you should read the ambulance chasers' ads. Some of the cases settle for more than $1 million.

Another reason we don't need streetcars in Arlington.

I will try to do a search of the local law firms Web sites and determine which of the streetcar boosters have negligence/liability practice areas.

I nominate the Arlington Yupette blog for the Pulitzer Prize in Journalism for 2013. The A.Y. blog is fearless, has no conflicts of interest, and therefore routinely makes the conflicted and fearful local media appear to be little more than PR flunkies for the ruling oligarchy.

Is it ethical for law firms to promote constructing a streetcar system that will produce many injuries and much property damage, then sue Arlington County and the streetcar system operators for liability and negligence once the streetcar system begins operating?

Worse and Worse...Why the HELL do we keep re-electing Zimmerman, Fisette, and Hynes?

"Local media little more than PR flunkies for the ruling oligarchy"? Yep, you got that right.

Your vehicle - demolished. Damage to streetcar - minor,

Right on, Judy!

A win-win, for the ambulance chasers and their law partners who specialize in total urbanization.

Local law firms are also out to get their clients public-private transportation project corporate welfare on top of the other taxpayer-funded corporate welfare payments they already receive.

County Board deferred the public-private corporate welfare transportation funding agenda item because it was exhausted from refereeing a Yuppie neighborhood food fight over decks and which cab companies will receive new taxi licenses.

The local machine ensures they stay in power, just like it keeps Jim Moran in power. The "majority" of Arlington voters, for whatever reason, seem to like these stale incumbents and keep returning them to office. No matter what the gaffs, scandals, forced agendas, whatever, it does not seem to matter.

Of course, any alternative Democrats like Bruce Shuttleworth are trashed by the machine. A true alternative like recent Independent Jason Howell, doesn't stand a chance. As for the Pubs, every local election they put forth the sorriest excuses for candidates. I grew up in an era where there were genuine alternatives and choices, where Dems, Pubs, and Independents truly worked together for the good of ALL the people of Arlington. Sadly, those days are long gone.

Worse and Worse? Fi$ette's 'Neverland on the Potomac' good bud Facilitators won all the Abbies this year. Did you notice?

Abbie Awards? Arlington Board Buddies' Inamorato Event?

Streetcar, streetcar, streecar.....

If that's all you can talk about, then your blog is worthless. You're missing half of the crap that the board is up to because you're blinded by one topic. Look at the waste with the pool-mahal, look at the parking issue with school (the CB wants Williamsburg MS paved over to create 680+ parking spaces).

The streetcar issue is a one-hit DUD!

Please encourage your readers to sign this local advocate's petition to stop the streetcar.

A.Y. blog has covered many local issues.

There are several petitions being circulated about stopping construction of streetcar systems.

The stupid Pike and Crystal City streetcar systems combined will cost more than 7 aquatic centers. At least $500 million. Total waste of money.

Crystal City streetcar will be worse. Connects with bus rapid transit in Alexandria. How stupid is that?

ALL open space is going to be paved over to provide outdoor mixed use recreation for the County Board's massive in-fill urbanization agenda facilitated by the County Board's out-of-state REIT cronies (hundreds of 5 story apartment and condo buildings are being planned with tiny plazas for 'open space') and non-resident County Staff.

The Parks and Recreation staff are non-residents who want to pave Arlington's open space with expensive recreation facilities that are expensive to maintain. Which will require an ever-larger parks and recreation bureaucracy. When will it end?

Why should they care? We're just a paycheck and a bunch of %*#&^%$ Socialists to them.

Country Board's 'neighborhood facilitators' aka ward heelers got all upset last C.B. meeting about Courthouse neighbors wanting to preserve some green space in the community park. But haviing allowed the redevelopment of Courthouse with no open space, recreation facilities, etc., except for plazas, the County Board spent $3.1 million turning open space into an outdoor recreation facility. A de facto gift to developers. Same is coming to the neighborhood park near you.
