Democrats Play Race Card Against Streetcar Alternatives

Hi Yupette,

I was shocked to see and hear Arlington Democrats play the race card against state-of-the-art cost-effective bus alternatives to the Pike streetcar Arlington and Fairfax County Democrats have been lobbying for the past 6 years.

The County Board not only cast thinly-veiled racial and ethnic slurs against the present ridership of Columbia Pike buses at it's July 24th meeting, when it voted for streetcars on the Pike, but the Democratic Machine is looking for a means of creating a racially segregated transit system on the Pike - old buses on the Pike for minority group members and new streetcars for upscale whites using exclusionary tactics like pre-payment with a major credit card required to board a Pike streetcar, and gentrification of all minorities out of the Pike corridor.

You can see the racist and elitist Democratic thinking about Pike transit summed up in the racist and elitist Falls Church News-Press  last week (no news or news photos about ethnic or minority group members appear at all in any given week). Just check out the  "Our Man in Arlington" column, written by one of ACDC's Senior Ward Heelers.

Not only will the Pike be resegregated through gentrification but Pike streetcars are going to essentially be "Whites Only".

Falls Church News-Press Publisher Nick 'Moran' Benton does feature members of minority groups. Last time was about 3 years ago.

How about the Biketards? Any minorities belong to Arlington's Bicycle Elite?

All part of an elaborate and long term 'resegregation through gentrification' charade costing taxpayers billions over decades.

Has anyone seen any ethnic or minority group members involved in development or redevelopment in any meaningful way? I haven't.

Majority of Arlington View and Foxcroft Heights residents wanted their neighborhoods left alone. Who did the County Board defer to? County planning staff person who does not live in Arlington and who treated residents with disdain when she didn't ignore them.

I don't believe I've ever seen any of them involved and I've lived in Arlington since 1956. The "liberals" (in name only) on the "board" like to talk and make a big show of how "concerned" and "progressive" they are, but in reality, they only care about pleasing developers and their fellow well-to-do "artisphere" elitists. The rest of us, regardless of our ethnic background, exist merely to pay their taxes and have them do whatever they want to us.

The only people the "board" and our "local government" don't disdain or ignore are their developer buddies and their fellow elitists. If you're not a developer or a part of the "smart" and "hip" set (artisphere, fancy cyclist, Lyon Village type neighborhood and up), they could care less if you dropped dead in front of them.

Know why County Government had an artist frost the windows of the meeting rooms at 2100? So you can't see that the committees, commissions, boards, etc., which are meeting there are "Whites Only".

Their latest pet special interest, the Bicycle Elite, have blanket immunity from enforcement of traffic ordinances.

Ain't that the truth. I see both them and joggers go through red lights. I've also seen both go through stop signs without stopping or looking. And if they got hit by a car when doing such things, it's the car driver's fault.

Earlier this week, I was coming home from work driving down the Wilson Blvd hill where Bon Air and Bluemont parks are located. There is an underpass for the W&OD/Four Mile Run trail that goes under Wilson Blvd. Some jogger decided that using it would be a big "inconvenience" for her and jogged right out across Wilson during rush hour traffic like she owned the place without so much as looking or telling the tax paying drivers on the road to kiss her foot.

It's the Bryd Machine all over again.

Then there the Yuppie Mommies who push their 3-wheeled strollers down the bike lanes while traffic is whizzing by.

Byrd Machine? Look at the Arlington Democratic Party - It's the White Citizens Council.

2100 Trolls and TDYs who post to Arl Now are all excited, another yupscale bistro is opening at Penrose Square.

The Pike will be worse than Clarendon. Columbia Pike will be a canyon and the surrounding neighborhoods will be bulldozed and replaced by square miles of 5-story apartments and condos.

Penrose Square = Military TDYs + Contractor TDYs + Interns

Yes, the streetcars will be 'whites only' because all the minorities will be gentrified out of the Pike Corridor and the homeless will be warehoused at Courthouse.

Yupscale Pike Corridor: You forgot to mention the yupscale and part time prostitutes and the yuptards' drug dealers.

Contractors' dream TDY is Pentagon-Pentagon City-Rosslyn-Crystal City.

Zimmerman's background is economics. Obviously he and the others on the County Board want to use wealth to re-segregate Arlington County into some version of apartheid where wealthy whites live in the County and everyone else lives 40-50 miles out in dumb growth sprawl and commutes into Arlington one-to-a-vehicle every day. That's why there are 400-500-600-700 parking spaces under every new commercial-retail building.

Seen the Bicycle Elite at the County Fair? Many aren't riding bicycles. They are riding electric motor and gasoline motor powered 2 wheel vehicles, whether powered bicycles, scooters, or mopeds. There is like ZERO traffic law enforcement by the police involving 2-wheeled vehicles. Most (maybe 70%) of traffic law enforcement in the County is directed towards non-residents driving autos, SUVs and pickup trucks.

Insofar as I can determine they are all looking to tax and borrow $2 Trillion so they can start a war with Iran. More federal $$$ pouring into Arlington. Yuppiee.

Mitt Willard said...

Two Trillion $$$$ will put lots more military, contractors, DOD employees inside the Beltway. Funded by our employer-employee paid retirement system named "Social Security".

Don't forget, it's an "entitlement" created for shiftless lazy U.S. Citizens by the Democrats. Got to use it for warfighting in the Third World instead.

Seen the prices of agricultural commodities? Soybeans - $16 a bushel. Corn $8 a bushel. Wheat $9 a bushel.

Keep bulldozing highly productive farmland for dumb growth gentrification sprawl ;~`}

I am seeing lots of mopeds and scooters being recklessly ridden around the county.

You're not the only one.
