Zimmerman Contemplating Retiring from County Board

Hey Yupette,

Talk of the ACDC Insiders is that Chris Zimmerman is going to retire after his current term on the County Board. Possibly move out of Arlington. So the Streetcar is his Legacy to Arlington, Which is why he's pushing it so hard.

Thanks for your blog. I'm three years from retirement and don't want to live in a condo where the power is going to go out every Fourth of July for 3 days. Too old for that. So I'm going to be moving on myself.

Why am I not surprised?

Seen who's resigned / retired from the Planning, Housing, Transportation Commissions recently?

Anonymous said...

Let me guess...he's going to move on to be the Chief Economist-New Urbanism Facilitator for Vornado?

New Urbanists are retiring all right, and moving to communities that are Old Suburban.

Speaking of New Urbanists, how much are Jay and his domestic partner worth, based on Jay's contacts with corporations and organizations looking for one thing or another from the county?

Do any of the Board members have real jobs -- a 40-hour a week job?

It would be nice is a local blog or bloggette would post the financial disclosure forms of the gang of five.

They lie like dogs on their financial disclosure forms.

Anonymous said...

Four of the five lead secret lives outside Arlington.

Speaking of the Sister Cities program, how much does it cost Arlington taxpayers?

Only upper management-level County employee who had an interesting financial disclosure form this year was the late, unlamented, Peter Katz.

County Board and others just report what they feel like reporting.

We retired, sold house to a streetcar lover, looking out at snow covered peak here in Montana. Tata!

Dear Zimmie, don't let the door hit you where the good Lord split you. And take your damn street car project with you. We can use the money to work on improving our infrastructure in this county, which recent storm events showed were sadly lacking.

Almost all members of the Planning Commission have ties to developers. Several current members of the Planning Commission aren't Arlington residents.

Planning Commission? Montana? Let's not forget to mention Zimmy's all time favorite and currently retired Planning Commissioner 'Nana from Montana', who has a second home in Butte and goes from public meeting to public meeting hyping mixed use urbanization whenever she's in Arlington.

Then there was "Nanny Nancy" from Fairlington. Another of Zimmy's favorite Planning Commissioners, who fast-tracked Shirlington redevelopment for Zimmy, Fisette, and Ferguson. No affordable housing, no new open space, massive new parking.

Took off last year for a senior retirement enclave outside Charlottesville.

Now the Fairlington civic association (her friends) are whining about parking and traffic problems. Duh.

How many members of the Planning, Transportation, Housing, and Economic Development commissions have been asked to resign / retire since January?

We had the same arrogance when Al Eisenberg ran the County Board. When Zimmerman leaves the County Board another Democrat will act the same way. We badly need 2-party government in Arlington.

Exactly! The current board members have been in power way, way, way too long and have become complacent, entitled, and arrogant. But nobody of any party seems to be able to beat them in our "elections" and move them out. Just like with our "representative" Jim Moran.

If Mark Kelly had mobilized state and local Republicans he would be on the County Board now.

Financial disclosure forms?

I agree that it would nice if the local media published them. Falsifying such forms sounds like a bad idea, so I am not sure that it is wise to believe such accusations without actually seeing the forms.

When Al Eisenberg controlled the County Board Arlington was run by a political machine, now we're run by an intractable regime. Huge amounts of tax dollars are being spent on buying the votes of special interests, on a massive public relations / propaganda disinformation bureaucracy, and on 'enforcing conformity'.

Call the County Board Office 228-3130 and you can set up an appointment to peruse the financial disclosure forms yourself.

LOL, do you really think Jay Fisette was going to disclose on his financial disclosure form that Boeing had to cough up X millions to Jay's domestic partner's consulting firm for 'consulting services' before Jay would vote for Boeing's recent corporate steal?

Anonymous said...

You forgot to mention the Regime has bought off the local media...censorship of news and positive editorial comment plus favorable features in return for access to Regime VIPs and advertising from the Regime's corporate cronies.

Not really a helpful comment. So, then one person would see the forms. Why not post them for all to see?

Great idea, ask the Arl Now blog to do the posting. Half the people who post comments on Arl Now work at 2100 Clarendon Blvd and spend significant work time promoting the County Board's schemes and trashing residents who oppose the County Board's schemes.

Anyone who keeps making suggestions about what AY should do or not do that could require significant time and resources should go off and start his or her own blog.

First thing to post - list of the clients of Healthy Companies International, Jay Fisette's domestic partner's consulting firm, from the past ten years.

Anonymous said...

Yeah, also the consulting fees Healthy Companies International charged to clients who went before the County Board for various gimmes approved by Jay.

LOL, do you really expect CZ to admit on his financial disclosure form that MBZ is a refrigerator and he has to find stimulation elsewhere?

Then there's Nada Tejada ;~}

Anonymous said...

You mean Ambassador Nada Tejada?

How about a list of Arlington neighborhoods being heavily promoted across the United States and Canada as 'lucrative redevelopment opportunities' by Arlington's Economic Development Office.

Anonymous said...

Talk about Willard Romney parking assets offshore, Arlington taxpayers make it so convenient for the County Board to offshore their gratuities via the Sister Cities Program.

Anonymous said...

Jay Fisette should not be voting on any major project unless and until Rob Rosen discloses the client list of Healthy Companies International for the past decade.

You would think Jay's domestic partner would be offering all kinds of pro bono help to the many struggling performing arts groups in the area.

Anonymous said...

You would think that with Jay having a showplace garden and landscaping around his home he would be giving pro bono assistance to neighborhoods like Ballston where the streetscapes are looking shabbier and shabbier.
