DOD Reductions Mandate An End To Extravagant County Board Spending

Hi Yupette,

The Defense Department is facing significant reductions in its budgets over the next decade, totaling $487 billion. The Army alone will be cut by 14%.

Time for a moratorium on any new spending by the County Board for new vanity projects - Pike trolley, purchase and renovation of a $25 million office building, spending $100-$200 million more on Long Bridge Park, continuing to operate the Artisphere, and so on.

Added to the DOD budget cuts are a freeze in pay for civilian federal workers and anemic creation of good paying non-federal jobs.

Only County Board candidate who I see as being responsive and responsible regarding the new economic reality is Audrey Clement. That's why I'm voting for her in March.

Audrey Clement also has my vote. I want Zimmerman and his lackeys (e.g., Melissa Bondi) out of County Government.

Who does Mary Hynes think she's fooling? Wants to spend $50 million on capital improvements on top of $1 billion for vanity projects. If I were Moody's I'd give Arlington County an A credit rating based on the County Board's extravagant plans.

The borrow-and-spend bubble is also driven by local chamber of commerce and economic development boosters like Scott McCaffrey, and the County's bloated planning, economic development, and public relations bureaucracies.

Current County Board members are approaching retirement age...what can you expect?

Zimmerman has reached the point where he takes great pleasure not in making Arlington Government more efficient and less burdensome but in controlling everyone and imposing his megalomania on everything.

Any talk of fixing Arlington's infrastructure is a big charade designed to elect another extravagant tax, borrow, and spend Democrat to the County Board.

Hey, Obama wants to give Fed employees a 1/2 of 1% raise. Fed employees should be so grateful.

County Government is set up to destroy all residential neighborhoods with mega-development to boost a bloated bureaucracy full of special interest advocates and ward heelers and reward pet developers with more development.

The five Urban Village Idiots aka Machine Democrats running for County Board can't bulldoze suburban neighborhoods into Clarendons, Shirlingtons, and Rosslyns fast enough. We need Melissa Bondi on the County Board like we need Newt Gingrich as President.

Notice the local media (including news blogs paid and paid off by developers) can't say enough good things about the candidates responsible for the urban mess Arlington is becoming.

The Teapublicans and pro-war Democrats want the USA to fight a big war with Iran. Iran has 3 times the population and 4 times the land area of Iraq. Also has effective defensive and offensive weapons. Iran is also backed by China and Russia.

Bondi and Fallon rubber-stamped every megadevelopment plan Zimmerman sent to the Planning, Housing, and Economic Development Commissions.

ArlNow, is accepting and running paid advertising from Fallon and Bondi. Has ArlNow ever opposed the Democratic Machine's same old same old?

I would have to be stupid to vote for Bondi, Fallon, or Garvey, who created the quality-of-life problems the County faces.

When I played soccer in the park along the Potomac just north of the runway my shoes and socks would be blackened by jet exhaust from all the planes that landed.
