Bondi Hit With Big IRS Tax Lien

Hi Yupette,

I was researching some land records in Paulie Ferguson's office last week when an acquaintance who works for Paulie asked me if I was aware that Zimmy's heir-apparent - Melissa Bondi - was hit with a huge lien against her home ($19,252.23 to be exact) by the IRS last March 29th.

Very interesting. Didn't Paulie Ferguson endorse Melissa, along with Zimmy and Walter Tejada? What's THIS all about? Sheesh.

Bondi has a hugely inflated resume', based on joining lots of organizations and infrequently attending meetings.

I will NOT vote for Bondi, Garvey, or Fallon. All three created problems they say they will work to solve if elected to County Board.

Anonymous said...

Bondi is largely responsible for transportation and housing problems in older suburbs across America because she and her "Smart Growth" buds have inflicted in-fill gentrification on suburban communities never designed to be urbanized.

Anonymous said...

Without smart growth, we'd be in much worse shape. You can't stop growth, you can only manage it - smartly.

Anonymous said...

Bull-oney. Smart Growth is killing Arlington as a livable suburban community. Smart Growth (what an oxymoron) sure as hell is killing my neighborhood in Columbia Heights as a livable community.

Anonymous said...

As was posted on this blog recently, the 'Smart Growth' developers, consultants, planners, etc., live in dumb growth subdivisions in McLean.

Anonymous said...

What is the lien related to? Non-repayment of federal student loans?

Jeff said...

Smart Growth? Check out Arlington's SECOND worst yuppie zoo neighborhood (Arlington's worst is Bondi's) - Penrose Square.

2100 said...

What's the lien related to? Ask her journalist pals at the Sun Gazette, ArlNow, Clarendon Patch, and AVN.

Anonymous said...

You forgot the Zimmercrats who run AIM.

Anonymous said...

Apparently she 'forgot' to pay taxes on a lot of self-employment income.

Anonymous said...

Simple mistake - she filed the 1099s with the Weight Watchers stuff.

Anonymous said...

FYI the Arlington Repigs have been sending copies of lien notices and whatever else the IRS has issued regarding Bondi to the local media for a couple days.

Anonymous said...

This has something to do with being paid to lobby for "Smart Growth" while she was on the Housing Commission, Economic Development Commission, etc.

Didn't she recently state that she wasn't going to take contributions from developers or special interests if she were elected to the County Board?

Melissa for President said...

Much ado about nothing. Why do you think ACDC elected a criminal defense attorney to be its Chairman? Mike will fix things for poor Melissa.

Jeff said...

ArlNow, Patch, Sun Gazette, AIM, AVN etc., are a bunch of f-ing worthless Yuptards who are only capable and competent to report about spas, health clubs, restaurants, and Yuptard real estate (infill condos and tear down McMansions).

Lien was related to unreported income from self employment.

Anyone who wants to view the statements of financial interest for County Board members and candidates who are serving on advisory commissions can call the County Board office at 228-3130 and make an appointment and/or visit the Voter Registrar's office weekdays 9-5. Both on the third floor of 2100 Clarendon Blvd.

Anonymous said...

Clarendon and Penrose Square are examples of how NOT to manage growth.

Anonymous said...

Bondi should not be running for anything. She and her 'Smart Growth' developer pals should be running from a federal grand jury.

Anonymous said...

The Sun Gazette and paid blogs are giving Melissa a free ride on this. Don't know about the Post. You can send the pdf of the lien that's going around Arlington to sullivanp at washpost dot com. See what happens.

The Post stands to make hundreds of millions from redevelopment of the property it owns on the Alexandria waterfront. Post is not going to report anything detrimental about a megadevelopment deal maker.

F Y I, Audrey Clement is on the ballot for the March 27th special election. Zimmerman told AIM to exclude Clement from the televised AIM-Patch candidate debate Thursday. So if you want to see a candidate forum that includes Audrey you will have to attend a civic association debate or the CivFed debate on March 6th, which may or may not be televised by AIM.

Hey, Yupette, Zimmy instructed AIM not to let Audrey Clement debate tomorrow night because the debate will be televised, so she was told she's not invited.

I searched yesterday and could not find a record of Melissa Bondi registering her consulting business with the County.

Paul Ferguson on November 13, 2011 said...

"Melissa Bondi is the best possible candidate for the Arlington County Board".

Bondi is professional failure said...

Failure to register Bondi's "consulting" business also means failure to pay business personal property tax, business license, and failure to seek zoning approval for home business (e.g., an on-line form that can be used by self-employed such as attorneys, sales persons, consultants, etc.).

Bondi wants to lord over the little people with her self-proclaimed brilliance, but all the while failing to follow basic rules imposed on everyone else in Arlington.

The failure to complete college raises also a lot of red flags when viewed in combination with the failure to pay taxes, register her car, etc. It suggests an inability to follow-through, an inability to reason, etc. Completing college is not impossible -- especially in this area with good community colleges. Given that she dropped out of college in 1992, there has been plenty of time to finish.

Thank you to the good folks who uncovered this fraud and sham of a candidate. You are heroes, and deserve a medal for potentially saving us from yet another "permanent" imperialistic ruler with a "let them eat cake" attitude.

Every single Arlingtonian who hears this story and is already disgusted with the manner in which the Arlington County Board has mowed over community after community in pursuit of personal ideologues and agendas should make every effort to encourage their friends, neighbors and acquaintances to turn out and vote for "ANYBODY BUT BONDI".

The facts of this story are outrageous and her lies are worse. Together they are the epitome of blatant arrogance. It appears that Ms. Bondi feels she is "above it all", that the rules don't apply to her and that if caught, she can lie her way out of it because just like her benefactors on the County Board, she thinks Arlingtonians are SHEEP and too stupid to figure it out or too complacent to stand up for what is right.

Seriously? Does she really think that a line (actually more than one) hasn't been crossed here? Does she truly believe that the hard working people who do follow the rules will swallow her myths whole or that long-standing supporters of the Democratic Party will ignore her misdeeds and lies simply because they are afraid of retribution from ACDC and Chris Zimmerman? If that turns out to be the case, you have to ask: "So who are the real sheep now?"

Arlingtonians who are "in the know" and value and respect a true democratic process need to dedicate themselves to keeping this story ALIVE. They need to write letters, make phone calls and encourage the local media (print, radio and TV) to not let up, to dig deeper -- get to the heart of the matter so that innocent voters who are "in the know" can't be duped by this fraud nor the "ruling elite" who have handpicked Bondi to be their new rubber stamp on the County Board.

The people of Arlington deserve better and clearly ANYBODY BUT BAAAAA-BAAAA BONDI would be.

How about a candidate who lives in a basement apartment in a middle class neighborhood, commutes by bicycle and Metrobus and Metrorail everywhere? How about a candidate who works in an responsible position? How about a candidate who deeply cares about the homeless, affordable housing, and the environment? How about a candidate who talks about what she's going to do for us rather than what she's done for Zimmerman at candidate forums?

People we HAVE a choice. I'm voting for Audrey Clement on March 27th.

Anonymous said...

What do Zimmerman, Bondi, and the 'Smart Growth' New Urbanists want? They want residents to own an expensive vehicle and drive it to the supermarket. Store the vehicle in an underground garage below one's luxury condo. Ride a bicycle or a streetcar otherwise.

They want non-residents to be able to drive to and from Arlington, one to a vehicle. No matter how much traffic congestion that causes in Arlington. Don't believe it? Check out the 'planning' for Shirlington, the Pike, Crystal City, East Falls Church, Clarendon, etc.

Besides the IRS she also blames "local bloggers'.

Anonymous said...

Ms. Bondi has asked the IRS for copies of all previous correspondences sent to her. Why? So she can ignore it again?

Anonymous said...

Bondi owns a house in Ohio, in the town where she grew up. Google it, and you'll find it. So she lied about not owning a home, and she misleads us by saying she is carfree. She drives someone else's car. In Ferguson's defense, as the head of the department, he can't know all the transactions that pass through that office. On the other hand, he could have checked with the tax office to make sure she was "clean". A late payment is a permanent record.

Anonymous said...

I'm glad she has the bloggers and others to blame for all of her problems. This enables her to avoid responsibility for her own actions. She will fit in well on the county board. With the proper spin she could actually convince voters that we owe her the job. Then she can vote herself a pay raise to pay off her debt to the IRS. I wonder how many other years the IRS is trying to resolve. I hope she's not paying her tax advisor by the hour. He's going to be busy for a long time.

Anonymous said...

It gets worse - Bondi's campaign workers are out handing literature to voters and they tell anyone who asks that it's all a big mistake and the bloggers are out to get Melissa. Appears that she and Zimmerman are going to try to bluff their way to a win.

Anonymous said...

Anyone know is there is a lien or liens filed against the Ohio home?

Is she renting out the Ohio house to tenants? If the IRS finds out she's not declaring the income on her tax returns, she will really have problems. Are you suggesting voting fraud is common and that makes it ok? People went to jail over the change of government petition drive. I don't know if Bondi is guilty of voting in multiple jurisdictions, but someone should look into it. It would clear her name of this latest allegation.

Can someone call the Cuyahoga County Auditor's office today? Determine whether she was/is in arrears on real estate taxes and has/had a lien or liens on the home she owns, apparently given to her by her father?

If you visit zillow.com and enter the property address you will see a photo of the house, it's on a corner lot. This is apparently the home Melissa grew up in, suburban neighborhood. What is commonly referred by Melissa's friends in Arlington as a 'tear down opportunity'.

If she voted in both Ohio and Arlington (in-person and absentee) that would be pretty serious, especially if it were in a national election, e.g., 2008. But people who own property in two different political jurisdictions do that all the time, also fill out a census form for their vacation home on Lake Anna and suburban home in Arlington, also use the address of a rental property they own in Arlington as their "legal residence" in order to continue to enroll their kids in the Arlington school system.

I would be proud to serve with Melissa.

Some of them own multiple properties and run for public office whereever there is a vacant office. Ambition and ethics are at odds. Speaks volumes of the problems with the system.

Are you suggesting Garvey and the rest of the school board created a school capacity problem by failing to ensure that only Arlington residents have access to our public schools?

Wakefield Parent said...

No, she and the rest on the School Board have been allowing that illegal behavior to occur for 15 years. It's become a fringe benefit for County employees who move out of the County.

Libby is as big a bullshooter as Melissa. And she's been bullshooting much longer. Heads we lose...tails we lose.

Feds are supposed to have the capability to identify people who vote in Arlington and Cleveland, at least in the November elections.

Jay Fisette exchanged information regarding gentrification / yuppification with Adrian Fenty. I wonder if Melisssa is exchanging information about local governance with Marion Barry?

I am a Democrat who is sitting out the Democratic Caucus. I will see who is on the ballot in March and will make a decision then. Right now, all I see are years more 5-0 County Board votes no matter which Democrat wins the Caucus and goes on to win election this year.

I hope the dem party faithful are pleased that in their determination to support Bondi no matter what information has come out they have opened the door wide for the republicans to provide an alternative - something that likely would not have happened if Bondi had just pulled out. When Mark Kelly wins, he can thank the democrats for their blind support of Ms. Bondi -- along with community oppostion to backyard chickens and the avian flu they can spread!!!

Has Bondi been voting in Ohio and Virginia during the same election periods? If so, that's a felony for each occurrence.

I'm no election lawyer Yupette, but it appears that by voting in Ohio she is declaring out-of-state residency. Virginia law requires that candidates for local office be residents of the Commonwealth and be eligible to vote in Virginia. As recently as last week, Virginia election law residency requirements were affirmed by the Court of Appeals down in Richmond. I think you have exposed a case here of a spider catching herself in her own web.

Melissa Bondi announced for County Board on November 10, 2011

Anonymous said...

Melissa Bondi filed with the Arlington voter registrar a month before that, so she could fundraise, and get loans from other elected officials campaigns. The push was to get her organization geared up before the current vacancy opened up on the county board and appear to be the front runner.

You have to be a Virginia resident to file for public office in Virginia. How can you be a Virginia resident and vote in Ohio after you file to run for public office in Virginia?

Anonymous said...

I guess Attorney General Cuccinelli will have to sort it all out ;-]

Anonymous said...

Anyone read Zimmy's letter supporting Bondi posted on Blue Virginia? Arlington needs regime change in 2012 like Egypt needed regime change in 2011.

Anonymous said...

Why doesn't Cuccinelli investigate this?

Anonymous said...

She votes in Ohio. Owns a home in Ohio. Collects Signatures in Virginia? Files for County Board in Virginia. Votes in Virginia? Sheesh.

Anonymous said...

Cuccinelli should investigate the entire Democratic caucus system where surrogate voting is so common it's like 5-0 voting on the County Board.

Anonymous said...

Surrogate voting? You mean you vote on Thursday and vote again on Saturday for your good Democratic friend who's on vacation in Florida? It's a longstanding Democratic Tradition that's part of the Arlington Way.

Melissa Bondi was asked (along with the other 5 candidates in tonight's Cherrydale debate) whether she had any 'skeletons in the closet' and she refused to answer the question.
