AIM, AVG Greenwash Arlington Residents

Hello Yupette,

I surfed around Arlington Independent Media and the County's PR video network, AVN. It's more than obvious that neither is interested in promoting a truly "green" Arlington but are tied to the County's "greenwashing" PR aimed at preserving the status quo.

So you won't see the most basic renewable energy information, e.g., solar hot water heating.

In other progressive communities you'll see many advertisements for renewable hot water systems, for example, zoeenergy.com in New York. And in places like Florida, inexpensive solar pool heaters allow outdoor swimming pools to be used almost the entire year.

At this point, it appears that solar hot water heating may or may not be installed at the new Wakefield High School, although there will be two swimming pools constructed there.

Arlington is falling so far behind everyone else when it comes to installing renewable energy it's appalling. With all our wealth we can and should be doing much better. That's why I'm not voting for incumbents on August 23rd and in November.

Given how many affluent and educated people live here the County is an environmental embarrassment.

Did you see in the Post the other day that General Electric is outsourcing its entire medical imaging division to China?

AVN is pure greenwashing, paid for by taxpayers along with the County's bloated PR bureaucracy.

AVN will never show the County's crumbling streets and roads.

If you want to make a video about the County's crumbling streets and roads, don't go to AIM, another bloated bureaucracy, just put whatever you shoot on YouTube.

AIM and AVG should make a feature about who the County Board meets in the County Board offices. About 85% of their time has nothing to do with improving the quality of life for Arlington residents.

AIM is another arts, entertainment, recreation bureaucracy.

The local media keep us ignorant. Exhibit 1 is solar water heating.

No matter how affluent the Yuppie family and no natter how large their McMansion, the water for the bathrooms, spa, and kitchen will be heated via energy provided by Washington Gas or Dominion Virginia Power.

Solar water heating will be 'discovered' when the Chinese begin marketing their solar water heating system to the Yups.

What else is new; Yuppies are brain dead hedos. They were infected by Ronald Reagan 30 years ago.

AIM and AVG won't produce a feature about bicycle and pedestrian safety. 'Cause jaywalking and running stop signs and traffic lights while riding a bicycle is a right granted unto Yuppies by the County Board.

Think about it, no matter how wealthy the person, organization, or corporation, no solar on the roof, no matter how hidden or unobtrusive the solar panel(s).

Yeah, some Chinese corporation will build a corporate headquarters in Arlington that will attain a LEED score of 75 of a 'possible' 69 points.

Week after week, year after year, AIM allows a dozen people to produce and air the same pathetic shows that should have been history 10 years ago.

What happens when you allow a couple of energy corporations to control the chamber of commerce which controls the county board and the media.

We get the same drivel, week, after week, month after month, year after year from the media. Except it gets worse every week. They have recently gone from scouring the USA for 'stories' about missing, abused, and exploited children to going to every English-speaking country in the world looking for 'stories' they can use to scare the Yuppie Mommies.

Good news; I saw that Ford will manufacture an all-electric battery powered Fusion this year or next year.

We should have thousands of all-electric cars in Arlington, charged by solar panels on the garage roof or carport roof.

Starts at the top - if wealthy people like Fisette won't install solar panels no one else will.

AIM is reactionary - if you want to produce a 30 minute feature about solar water heating AIM makes you take a 3-week production course and then you have to wait until a time slot opens. AIM is another entrenched County Board Approved bureaucracy.

AIM is funded by Comcast. Think Comcast wants the fossil fuel corporate advertisers to lose income?

Yes, if Fi$$ette won't put solar on his roof none of the other wealthy Elitists will.

I think it's terrible that the solar hot water heating may not be installed at the new Wakefield High School. They are definitely falling far behind everyone else when it comes to installing renewable It's appalling how much more money will be spent in the long-run. I didn't realize that California may now hold the record for largest residential solar system in the world. It's impressive that new york renewable energy allows you to create clean natural energy while generating absolutely no pollution. I found a terrific lead called Greenlogic.com, which honestly has some really useful information regarding their costs and savings before and after tax incentives and credits and utility rebates. Finding thenew york renewable energy data helped me come up with a useful strategy that suits me and is invaluable. I know the initial cost of my solar system and the expected lifetime savings on my solar system. I highly recommend that you check it out and save money in the long-run.
