Dover, Kohl Close to Final Plans for Douglas Park Renovation

Hello, Yupette,

I became friendly over the past week with several of Dover, Kohl's planning staff.

So they've let me take a look at the two final plans for the renovation of Douglas Park, opposite Chairman Zimmerman's home. Funding is buried in the 2012 Parks, Recreation, and Cultural Resources budget.

Let me know which you like. We are taking an informal poll of Chris's friends.

C U at the next Plenary meeting in September.

Our Beloved Reitsfuhrer has often expressed a desire to live near water.

'This park is so safe that when two squirrels get into a fight over an acorn the police and animal control show up within 2 minutes'.

Victor and Joe came up what we all think is a pretty neat plan for the lake. Since the electric and gas utilities won't let Chris install solar and geothermal in Arlington, Joe and Victor thought the County could drill a couple 170 foot geothermal wells to feed the lake with cold water so Chris can go trout fishing. Just a concept, of course.

Only slightly less ludicrous than the Pike's community leaders playing fantasy design charades with a crew of con artists last night.

We should emulate Dover, Kohl and conduct an instant poll of Arlington's Community Leaders.

So for each of the planning vision statements for Douglas Park, please indicate one of the following:

1. Needs Improvement

2. No Opinion

3. I Like It

OK, I say 1. Needs Improvement for both plans. There is no personal watercraft on the lake and there is no all terrain vehicle on the forest path.

I vote 3., that I Like It. For both. Only because there are enough public parks that have been converted in soccer fields.

I agree with Victor Dover and Joe Kohl, Chris Zimmerman should have a walkable trout lake to share with his neighbors.

I live at 5500 Columbia Pike and pay $3500 for rent. How much would I have to pay to fish for trout at Lake Zimmerman?

Depends on how much you are willing to contribute to Favola for State Senate.

Or, just ask 'Yenta' at the next Plenary in September.

Know what Dover, Kohl would be planning for Douglas Park right now if Chris Zimmerman didn't live across the street?

A live-where-you-play mixed-use redevelopment?

I like the woodland trail concept. With County Board informal offices at the end of the trail. So the County Board's team of Community Leaders can just kick back with out of state planners, developers, ancd county staff in a totally relaxed natural setting.

Looks like something interesting. I'll discuss it with Joe K. and we may be able to e-mail a drawing to Ms. Yupette

Hello, Yupette. Here is a concept drawing of the informal County Board Offices in Douglas Park. Informal, but not too informal. Let us know what you think:

1. Needs Improvement

2. No Opinion

3. I Like It

3. I like it.

But guys, this is just like the old colonial buildings you want to tear down on the Pike and replace with garish post modernist orange brick boxes.

Latest about Dover, Kohl - they want to 'facilitate' the redevelopment of King Street (Route 7) from Quaker Lane to Route 50.

Seen on today's news - there are 3 oil refineries near Billings.

Interesting, County Board offices and grounds renditions look as though the concept is of a Delaware country estate.

Love the way these pictures are taken with partially foliated trees so the sun shines through. Reminds me of the Dover Kohl Columbia Pike renderings where the sun shines through massive infill.

Chairman Zimmerman is already having public works install new water mains to serve Lake Zimmerman and the new informal County Board Offices.

Anyone see any Latinos, African Americans, Asians or other minorities at the Douglas Park parade yesterday?

Anonymous said...

There were no minorities at ANY of the parades, why do you think the police were there?

Anonymous said...

The Douglas Park parade yesterday was actually an Adam Ebbin rally.

Audrey Clement's campaign was passing out literature during the parade and the Reitsfuhrer was not happy to see them.

What happened was, Audrey Clement and her campaign had been up in Bellevue Forest passing out literature during that parade and spoke with some very unhappy upscale homeowners who were without power with tree limbs down all over since Saturday evening and nobody from County was there. So somebody from Audrey's campaign told Chris Z. he ought to go up to Roberts Lane and talk to the homeowners about getting the mess cleaned up and the power turned on and CZ got angry.

CZ? You mean Christopher DuPont Zimmerman?

Chemical Chris as he is familiarly know.
