'Plan" for EFC? No brainer. Ugly, expensive, and traffic-generating Shirlingtonization plus tear-downs of affordable homes and replacement by McMansions.

Speaking of the Shirlington mess there will be two meetings at the Shirlington Library on Thursday, April 7th. One between 3 and 5 PM. The other between 6 and 8 PM. So if you are fed up with the traffic from Shirlington please attend.

EFC residents should attend the April 7th meeting to see what they're in for.

Maybe the co-sponsor of Shirlington mega-developemnt, Paulie Ferguson, will show up. But probably not. He'll be practicing his 'don't worry, be happy' speech for Friday's CivFed banquet.

The County Board was repeatedly warned that there would be major traffic problems if Shirlington were built out to a high density with massive parking.

EFC neighborhoods should send a delegation to the Shirlington Library Thursday evening.

Paul Fergusen? What does he care? Walks across Quaker Lane and he's in Alexandria where there's a livable community.

Planning Commission heard the From Based Code Pike gentrification revisions tonight and had the police in the County Board room to scare the minorities who live on the Pike away.

Barcrofter said...

God forbid that minority Pike residents show up and complain they are being gentrified out.

Terrorists? How about County Staff, 'Community Leaders' and the Arlington Police Department when if comes to scaring the hell out of minorities.

Did you know that the Anglos on County Staff (our tax dollars at work) are referring to Latinos and Latinas who live and work on the Pike as "Monkeys"?

Luz said...

So, you understand why the Arlington Latinos and Latinas say: 'Nada Tejada. Nada por nosotros, todo por los ricos'.

Nada Tejada: Sister Cities Ambassador. Also know as "Futbol. Futbol. Mas Futbol".

Gosh, I wonder which Planning Commissioner got the Planning Commission to call the Cops on the Latinos and Latinas?

Also heard last night: "There are vast amounts of undeveloped and lightly developed land two miles West and Northwest of Arlington County. Why does everything have to be crammed into one tiny county?"

Not to mention the disaster area along Route 1 between the Occaquan and Quantico.

If there's going to be two big BRAC developments at Beloir and Quantico, redevelop Route 1 between Belvoir and Quantico.

Heard at the Civic Federation meeting last night: CPHD is a bloated bureaucracy (87 FTE) that's constantly looking for more money to completely urbanize Arlington.

Pike Rider said...

CPHD employees are actually threatening minorities on they Pike with arrest if they try to get involved with Pike planning.

I saw 2 African Americans, no Asians, and one Latina at last night's CivFed meeting, about 100 attended.

Scott McCaffrey was told at the Civfed meeting that instead of trashing activists because his door locks get picked and persons unknown leave reminders they visited his home uninvited he should Google 'How to pick a Schlage lock' and 'How to pick a Kwikset lock' and watch the Youtube videos.

How about a new posting; 'Wayne Wows CivFed With Minor Changes to a Bloated and Out-of-Control Bureaucracy'?

Linda - Aurora Hills said...

CPHD - Community Planning, Housing, and Development is an oxymoron. This bloated bureaucracy justifies its existence by engaging in a massive national effort to totally urbanize Arlington to benefit out-of-state REITs, out-of-state developers, law firms, national chain retail, restaurants, and other people and organizations who want to make money and make us suffer the consequences of total urbanization.

"Planning" Commission rubber stamped the County Board's mixed-use mess.
