Arlington Chamber, Local Media, Will Endorse Hynes and Tejada

HI Yupette,

Like many small buinesspersons I'm not a fan of the Arlington Chamber of Commerce which supposedly represents small business but actually doesn't. Unlike the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the Arlington Chamber is also anti-minority owned business and anti-renewable energy. The Arlington Chamber's office staff are cheerleaders for the Big Business members. From what I hear in the business community look for the Arlington Chamber to endorse and support Mary Hynes and Walter Tejada for re-election. Mary and Walter support the Arlington Chamber's neo-con Big Business agenda, and make it a priority to attend Arlington Chamber functions. Look for the Post, Sun-Gazette, Examiner, etc. to endorse Hynes and Tejada. The local media are increasingly attuned to the Big Business agenda of non governmental organizations like the Arlington Chamber. The Arlington Sun Gazette has become a propaganda outlet for the Arlington Chamber via it's Editor (and Arlington Chamber Executive Committee member) Scott McCaffrey. No wonder Arlington Republicans run such mediocre campaigns. Why vote for a neo-conservative when you can re-elect an nice Republican incumbent?

Arlington Chamber is also for 'resegregation through gentrification', increased traffic congestion through mega-infill, and exporting local I.T. jobs to China.

Arlington Chamber's office staff are cheerleaders? Give me a D-O-M-I-N-I-O-N. Fight Solar Fight Solar. Rah Rah Rah.

You won't see me voting for that big puto for big business and the developers, Nada Tejada. Senor Futbol. Nada por nosotros, todo por los ricos.

McCaffreuy is going after Audrey Clement, who sued to stop I-66 widening and who happens to live in Westover, for opposing mega-development in EFC.

Sun Gazette's parent company is managed by Bush neo-cons in Dallas. The parent company is owned by multinational corporations who hate small business. So it all fits.

Nada Tejada? How appropriate. There are no latinos from the Pike corridor in any decision making role about their own future as residents of the Pike corridor.

Hynes and Tejada didn't have to pay to attend Chamber functions, the Chamber comped them.

Did you read yesterday's Post? Don Graham is still going after Vince Gray because he's not for total gentrification of DC.

McCaffrey is paid big bucks to write real estate supplements. Real estate and conforming to the Arlington Chamber's current agenda are his two main priorities.

If ever a local government were ripe for change, it's Arlington's.

I see who gets appointed to committee after committee, whether Fisette's energy task force or the Plenary Committee that will inflict the total gentrification planning charade on the Pike. Almost all middle-aged and elderly County Board loyalists who will say "how high" whenever the County Board (and especially Zimmerman) says "Jump".

Check out the Falls Church News-Press. There is like zero mention of FC's minority population. News-Press Publisher is former FC Chamber President Nick Benton.

Washington Post wants all minorities and the middle class out of DC in the worst way. Post's profitability depends on DC households having at least $50,000/yr in disposable income.

Read Nick Moran Benton's latest boosterism for the mixed-use redevelopment the FC City Council just approved? Necessitated by a greedy FC government that overcharged neighboring jurisdictions for water and can't say no to the FC School Board.

This will be an in-fill redevelopment on Rt 29 just inside FC city limits

Benton is a Chamber of Commerce Repig pretending to be a Dem.

Developer is the Arkidge Company, located in D.C. CEO is John Akridge, a major league contributor to Moran and other Virginia Dems.

Supposedly Akridge is bringing in "developer associates" from around the USA. Does that mean the REITs?

FC City Council needs the tax revenue from mega-development to pay off FC's teachers and placate the yuppie mommies. Also to pay back what the City overcharged other jurisdictions for water.

So much for electing "independents" to FC City Council.

Anonymous said...

I wonder if Akridge will be the "straw man" developer that Zimmerman will use to mega-develop EFC.

Falls Church's Urban Village Idiot, Nick Benton, wants FC City Council to spend extravagantly so the FC Chamber can roll out the red carpet for the REITs to come in and "save" FC with tax revenue from total urbanization.

Jean - EFC said...

Same thing Zimmerman and the Chamber are doing in Arlington - more urbanization = more real estate tax revenue to spend extravagantly, leading to still more urbanization.

"Independents" elected to the FC City Council last year? Independent of what? Not the FC Chamber of Commerce, FC School Board, and Nick Moran Benton.

Fairlington is suffering the effects of mega-development in Shirlington and along King Street. So what does Fairlington resident Scott McCaffrey have to say? He prints the Arlington Chamber of Commerce's pro-HOT lanes script in his newspaper.
