County Board Set to Approve Zimmerman's Crystal City Redevelopment

Hi Yupette,

The County Board is set to approve Zimmerman's Crystal City "development for the sake of development" sector plan, over the objections of many b3ecause of the size, increase in traffic, and lack of open space. The County Board is likely to award tens of millions in bonus density to pet developers for affordable housing that's not affordable, for green gimmicks, and for open space that's not open.

Meeting starts at 6:30 tonight.

Biggest beneficiary of Zimmerman's 'corporate welfare' package would be Vornado, which so far this year has walked away from $400 million worth of nonperforming properties.

Vornado, Chris Zimmerman and Jim Moran are remaking Crystal City following the urban model of Beijing -- gridlocked roads snaking through the permanent shadows of imposing thousand unit apartment boxes.

The communities adjacent to Crystal City spoke out in July in opposition. Zimmerman and the County Board only listened to the voices in their heads.

Zimmerman is the worst, absolutely. His "vision" is for every arterial with commercial buildings to be transformed into a canyon with huge ugly box buildings and a 400 vehicle parking garage under each building.

The Repigs, being Repigs, go right along

Looks like the civic associations caved to the county board's jive development "planning".

Did you see how many of the County Board's pet lawyers, developers, brokers, etc., was there tonight, looking for corporate welfare?

Where is Mark Kelly? Attending Pro-Life rallies and committee meetings against embryonic stem cell research?

We would be much better off with Kevin Chisholm on the County Board. Not a wacky Dem like Zimmerman or a Wacky Repub like Kelly.
