Christmas in July Continues - July 13th

Hi Yupette,

Christmas in July County Board meeting continues July 13th starting at 6:30 PM. Agenda includes gifts for Arlington's wealthy performing arts groups, Chris Zimmerman's $36 million present to WMATA for a new Rosslyn Metro station, and the re-redevelopment of Crystal City.

Anyone know why 3 wealthy live theater groups will receive more than 50% of the performing arts grants, except "that's what Jay Fisette wants"?

Why do only the performing arts get grants?

Why don't Fisette and his domestic partner write three checks and take the tax deduction next year?

Google 'Healthy Companies International' which is owned by Fisette's domestic partner, Robert Rosen. Fisette and Rosen are very wealthy guys. They could easily afford to award $250,000 in grants every year to their favorite Arlington performing arts groups.

You misspelled Jay's name - it's Jay Fi$$ette.

How about the $ignature and $tephen $ondheim?

Healthy companies? How about healthy communities? Jay Fisette votes against affordable housing, homeless services, and strips money from public libraries to fund his upscale live theater interests.

Fi$$ette? What else in new? Ever seen a Yuptard who gave a s--t about anything other than his or her Yupscale interests?

Fi$$ette siphoned off a million dollars from the public libraries in pay go for his Artisphere and live theater buds. The Artisphere will get a $750,000 present for theater lighting.

Why doesn't Nanny Nancy Hunt hold a fundraiser in Shirlington Village for the $ignature? She was responsible for the irresponsible site plan that delayed library construction for 5 years while teh $signature held out for more $$$ from the County.

Shirlington Village restaurant owners dislike Nancy Hunt for spending 2 years trying to micro-manage their outdoor restaurant seating and outdoor music.

Also on tomorrow's Christmas in July agenda is Zimmerman's $36 million gift to WMATA for Rosslyn Metro station beautification.

Even County Board Booster Smitty McCaffrey gave Zimmerman a thumbs down for that antic. Plus, they are so out of control they're putting $36 million give-aways on the consent agenda.

We don't need any more of Zimmerman's cosmetic fixes. We need added Metrorail capacity. Start by building a new rail tunnel under the Potomac parallel to the present 1 track tunnel.

There is all sorts of secret underground infrastructure built since 9-11-01. Which does nothing for us except allow the U.S. military to fight bigger and longer wars. Stupid brainwashed taxpayers ride an antiquated over-capacity subway system. Talk about sheeple.

How about the Crystal City Mega Development also on the County Board's agenda? More Christmas in July for more developers?

Together with 6 million square feet of re-redevelopment in Alexandria Potomac Yards? How about calling it Looney Tunes in July?

Fact of life - no matter how much new residential and commercial development the County Board adds to the tax assessment rolls they ALWAYS significantly raise real estate taxes.

Also on the agenda, the supposedly financially distressed County will soon be purchasing a commercial property in Shirlington for a part of a "Nauck Town Center."

Regarding Crystal City re-redevelopment it's the same old same old transportation, housing, commercial, retail "planning". Also, better learn to like riding a bicycle.

Should be interesting to see how all the trains get in and out of DC via 2-track intercity rail and 2-track Metrorail thru Crystal City.
