Fisette Will Continue 'Boutique' Projects

Hi Yupette,

Last night County Board Chair Jay Fisette resisted requests from Civic Federation delegates to reverse his emphasis on 'boutique' projects and concentrate on basic infrastructure. So there's an aquatic center and a bunch of million dollar lighted soccer fields in our future.

About the aquatic center - why don't the wealthy country club and pool club members who agitate for a taxpayer financed aquatic center build their own year around pools?

I have never seen fewer people using the outdoor swimming pool in my condo community as this year. It's partially shaded and there are plenty of tables with umbrellas so solar exposure isn't an issue.

The pool clubbers and country clubbers should construct year-around pools. That would meet their demand. The new pools at the new Wakefield HS will meet the demand of south Arlington residents for more year-around pools. There are several health clubs that I'm aware of with swimming pools that are begging for members. The cost isn't extravagant. If there is a demand for swimming pools for physical therapy the physical therapists should build specialized therapy pools.

Because Jay Fisette wants an aquatic center, that's why. Same as he wants a dog park on every block and a live theater in every neighborhood. We are talking about an Arlington that is increasingly hedonistic where instant physical and material gratification has become the norm.

Excellent suggestions, Charles. If Ar;lington were run by adults rather than yuppie delinquents something(s) like what you suggest would have been implemented years ago.

Another good reason to sign the change the government petition.

Jay Fisette and Mike Brown were asked directly before the CivFed meeting why county goverment refuses to address basic infrastructure needs first. They refused to comment.

Anyone know what Mike Brown's agenda is? Does he have one?

Ron Carlee was offered an opportunity he couldn't refuse and was reaching retirement anyway. Mike Brown also reached retirement age and the County Board brought him to Arlington because he fit into their plans for more of the same.
