Zimmerman, Metro Board Members, Caused Decline in Ridership

No Brainer, Yupette. Anyone who's concerned about the decline in Metro's ridership should check out what Metro Board member and Arlington County Board member Chris Zimmerman did to Metro ridership over the past 15 years. He approved the construction of tens of thousands of new parking spaces in new parking garages, most next to Metrorail stations. So who wants to take a bus to a dirty crowded train to work when you can drive your SUV to a nice new parking space under a new Smart Growth building, thanks to Guru of Gridlock Zimmerman?

THANK YOU, Smart Growth Smarty Pants, Guru of Gridlock, Urban Village Idiot Zimmerman. I totally enjoy driving my BMW from my East FC neighborhood to my nice smart growth office with (thanks to you) a dedicated parking space in the Courthouse area. No dirty crowded and dangerous Metro train commuting for me.

We told Zimmerman a decade ago to stop putting 300 vehicle parking garages under every building in the Ballston-Rosslyn corridor.

Now that the trains are old, crowded, and dangerous and the escalators often don't work people are driving to work rather than taking Metrorail. Do I blame them? No.

Urban Village Idiocy? Try the 2-track Metrorail extension to Dulles which will dump 80,000 passengers onto the Orange Line every morning.

Decline in ridership? In the aftermath of recent Metrorail accidents why would Jane Yuppie not want to drive from an underground parking space in a Zimmerman approved condo in EFC to a an underground parking space in a Zimmerman approved office building in Courthouse?

Know what's even more idiotic? You have to get in your car and drive 1/4 mile to the supermarket. Then put the groceries in your car and drive back 1/4 mile and unload them.

Zimmerman is a megalomaniac like Governor Rockefeller who reigned over NY when ZimPig was growing up there.

YES, it is totally f'ing idiotic to have to drive 1/4 mile to the f'ing supermarket.

What's the alternative under Zimmerman's urban village idiot's "transportation leadership"?

More of Zimmerman's Urban Village Idiot transportation leadership? Hey, the print media, realtors, developers, and auto dealers are all for 'more of the same'.

Zimmerman is dumb, but he isn't stupid. He's going to be outta Arlington before the first 30,000 commuters from Tysons hit the East Falls Church Metro station at 8 AM.

Lots of people, including the Greens, asked what will happen when the Chamber of Commerce-designed Dulles Line dumps 80,000 commuters onto the Orange Line weekday rush hours. Chamber of Commerce jerks responded - "We'll deal with it when it happens."

Can you spell "greedy republican pigs"?

Chris Zimmerman is one of the worst things that's ever happened to Arlington County.

He reminds me of what Calvin Coolidge said about Herbert Hoover: "That man was always giving me advice - all of it bad."

Zimmerman is actually pro-traffic. He not only voted to build the parking garages but refuses to allow neighborhoods to start ride sharing among neighbors because he wants his political operatives to control everything that goes on in the neighborhoods.

So now what? County's population will grow another 25,000 - 30,000 between now and 2020.
