County Board Threatens Media - "Don't Promote Other Candidates"

Hello Yupette,

Interesting development at 2100 Clarendon Boulevard. The County Board-controlled public information office is telling the local media to not promote non-Democratic candidates "or else."

"Or else" means the media may face several unappetizing consequences as the result of featuring Republicans and third party candidates, ranging from having to pay for press releases to competing newspapers beginning publication in Arlington.

Not surprising. Local journalists either have conflicts of interest or are receiving "gratuities" from "local decision makers" or both.

Fact is Arlington County alone has at least 25 employees churning out PR for the media (20 who work for the County Board and 5 who work for the School Board). Arlington has it's own taxpayer funded AM radio station, cable TV, and Internet PR network. Cost to taxpayers is at least $10 million / year.

It's a lose-lose. We pay for the PR the County Board losers use to get reelected then we're stuck with them another 4 years.

Zimmy is a gimme, thanks to the daily PR gift to the local media from Arlington County's PR department. Weeklies could not publish without it. Paid for by the taxpayers.

Arlington has a blog for every neighborhood. Can't someone start one really good blog that covers the entire County and knocks off the don't worry be happy Emperor Zimmerman knows what's best for you boloney?

Blogs are becoming a waste of time.

Pols don't read blogs. There are too many for anyone to read. Anything that's relevant and important is buried under mountains of verbiage.

Yeah, finding something important in local blogs is like going through a landfill trying to find a winning lottery ticket you mistakenly threw in the trash last week.

I posted something to this blog and it never appeared.

Ever listened to the County's AM radio station? Talk about brainwashing.

Keep giving them hell, Yupette. County Government is nothing but a bunch of greedy, hedo, yuppie pigs.

Then there are the telephone calls at supper time because Zimmy's gangstas gave out your name and phone number to various non-profits like the animal welfare groups.

Then there are Zimmerman's Nanny Nancys who spread malicious gossip and micro-manage everyone's life as part of Zimmy's requirements for appointment and re-appointment to the Planning Commission, Housing Commission, Transportation Commission, etc.

How about a thread about Arlington's increasingly corrupt Police Department?

Yeah, 1/2 the calls dispatched to Arlington police officers involve homeless people doing something or some things that are unacceptable to Arlington's Elite

Several local chambers of commerce are holding a congressional candidate's debate in Arlington on May 13th and 3rd party candidates are not invited.
