Same 25 million plus population growth that's been occurring over the past few decades, tho recently it's been over 30 million per decade.

Next few years I'm seeing what's left of the East Coast's rural areas, forests, mountains, etc., before everything's paved over.

There's been a huge increase in births over the past few years, about 4.4 million births in 2009 and 2.4 million deaths.

Anyone with half a brain knows that a 3 million + population growth every year will have serious negative environmental consequences.

East Coast is going to be one continuous sprawl suburb in 20 years - see the farms, forests, mountains, beaches now.

Arlington may grow by 100,000 by 2050 and the County Board's planning can be summed up by the phrase - don't worry be happy.

Last night Zimmerman chastised Arlington's planning staff for "unilaterally" proposing a general land use plan amendment. Actually the County is so hard up for tax revenue that Zimmerman and county staff will do anything to make the developers happy.

Reasons for Zimmerman's rants against County Staff at the March 16h CB Meeting deserve another posting on AY.
