Kaine, VDOT, Arlington VIPs Attempting to Save HOT Lanes Deal

On September 9th VDOT Director Pierce Homer and local elected officials, including Guru of Gridlock Chris Zimmerman, will discuss HOT Lanes at the Arlington Committee of 100 meeting at Marymount University, a private college located about 8 miles from I-395. The Arlington Committee of 100 is a group of about 300 "community leaders". No public meetings with VDOT VIPs and other state officials are currently scheduled. Governor Kaine has reportedly instructed VDOT, Zimmerman, and others to take whatever steps are necessary to save the HOT Lanes deal.

Anti-Child Pro Lifers Target National Health Insurance

Based upon what's transpired at over a hundred national health care forums hosted by Members of Congress, it appears that Pro-Life anti-abortion activists are the prime force targeting single-payer national health insurance and the primary group responsible for disrupting congressional meetings. Of the 47 million Americans who aren't covered by health insurance, about 8.7 million are children.

Guest Thread - Support Our Troops? How Much Longer?

I am tired of "supporting our troops" in one prolonged Third World conflict after another for the past 50 years. Our nation has plenty of money for wars but nothing for infrastructure, health care, or much of anything else, in a nation with a population of 310 million, which, BTW, has increased by 65 million over the past 20 years.
