Arlington's High School Drop Out Rate "Appalling"

Despite the Arlington County School System spending over $500 million dollars this fiscal year to educate 20,000 children only 68.9% of Latino students finish high school in 4 years versus 96.4% of white students. Wakefield High School is such a mess that Arlington Democrats brought President Obama to Wakefield telling students to stay in school. What should Arlington be doing to solve its drop-out problem?

Yupette, it's racial and economic. Yuppies need a constant supply of Latino / Latina high school drop-outs to clean their homes, cook their food, staff the kitchens of their gourmet restaurants, provide low-cost child care, provide low-cost lawn care, etc. Their own GenZ spoiled-brats are too precious and valuable to do manual labor.

Yes, Marisol, and Arlington's #1 Yuppie Racist-Elitist is Jay Fisette.

$500,000,000 / 20,000 = $25,000

About 400 non-resident students illegally attend Arlington schools.

It's been 30 years since Latino immigrants started arriving here from Central America. Why can't our schools educate Latino children?

The Chamber of Commerce Sun Gazette is applauding the School Board for releasing data about the high drop out rate. When is the School Board going to act on the data? Bringing in President Obama to preach to the kids at Wakefield H.S. is a poor solution.

Taxpayer, the answer to your question is "when hell freezes over"

Scott McCaffrey is the Arlington Chamber of Commerce's Smart Growth Moron. Keep washing your hands kids, flu vaccine will arrive any day now.

That's what we get for taking care of everyone else in the world - sh-t education for our kids and our kids infected with H1N1 and no vaccine.

If you are white and you live in North Arlington your child will receive an excellent education at Yorktown H.S.

Do the math -

North Arlington schools = enrichment

South Arlington schools = remediation

Flu vaccine? I have a 3 year-old and she's staying home until I take her to be vaccinated against H1N1. Took 2 weeks vacation and we're staying inside away from everyone until she gets her flu shot. Let's HOPE our kids can get vaccinated before much longer.

If the H1N1 vaccine were a live theater building all children and adults in Arlington would be vaccinated by now.

Schools get how much from the states, feds, other sources?

retired ACPS said...

Including borrowed money the total from all sources is about $500 million spent this fiscal year. And yes, there are about 400 K-12 children who are not legally Arlington residents who attend Arlington's schools.

The County Board and Chamber of Commerce share many pet special interests, which is why you never see the pet special interests criticized in McCaffrey's newspaper.

The way both the County Board and School Board move money across fiscal years and back and forth it's hard to say exactly how much gets spent in any one fiscal year, best guess for the School Board is about $500 million.
