False and Malicious 'Suspicious Person' Complaints are Common in Arlington

What police departments and members of minority groups both know and what the media doesn't want to talk about is false and malicious "suspicious person" complaints directed at members of minority groups and other "undesirable" persons are common in communities across America. Arlington County is no exception.

Tell me about it. I'm African American and have been stopped while wmlking down my own damn street at least 5 times over the last 10 years. I live in Westover.

President Obama should tell the truth about racial profiling and racism and apologize to no one.

These are not suspicious person complaints about black kids selling candy or magazine subscriptions, as per the Post's Op-Ed page yesterday. They are complaintes by people who hate minorities. All too common in Arlington.

Three worst neighborhoods for this racist behavior are Lyon Village (Favola's neighborhood), Douglas Park (Zimmerman's neighborhood), and Ashton Heights (Fisette's neighborhood). Worst is when a CB ward-heeler calls the police on a neighbor who is on the CB's harassment list. The Arlington police go right along. This has been going on for two decades or more.

Don't let one of the C.B.'s nanny nancies see you taking the groceries out of your SUV after a trip to the supermarket if you are on the C.B.'s harassment list.

The Arlington Police Department knows all about this behavior, and goes right along.

If the Arlington Police weren't having to constantly answer suspicious person complaints they would have to engage in boring pro-active community policing.

"Community Policing" in Arlington County means that if an Arlington police officer who lives in an Arlington community wants to know what's going in that community he / she contacts the County Board's precinct chair and / or the County Board's ward heelers. Same people who call in suspicious person complaints. Did someone say LOL?

Where are elected officials like Euille, Fenty, and Tejada?

Arlington County is anti Community Policing. The police are used for Arlington's gentrification through intimidation program.

I agree. The Arlington Police Department has zero contact with citizens in residential neighborhoods, like mine. They get their "information" from the malicious busybodies the County Board appoints to micro-manage Arlington's neighborhoods and communities.

This behavior occurs primarily in gentrified neighborhoods. And the Arlington Police Department is clueless. The only citizens the police talk with are the County Board's pet people, most of whom are racially and ethnically prejudiced.
