All About Yuppie Arlington

Chis Zimmerman is to light rail / metrorail as Michael Jackson was to Propofol.
Zimmerman should be brought before a federal grand jury, asap, and forced to tell the truth about his incompetence while on the WMATA Board.
When will the local media come clean about the dangers of shared-street light rail vs. shared-street bus transit?
Never. The local media only print Zimmerman's PR, written at Arlington County's and WMATA's expense.
Shared-street light rail is unsafe and expensive compared to shared-street bus transportation. The Post and local media would rather print press releases than start a discussion about the merits of various modes of public transportation.
Zimmerman is to Arlington as the Wizard is to Oz. Both are windbags who use a machine to intimidate people.
Shared-street light rail will cause many accidents and many injuries vs. shared-street buses. Primary reason is DC residents don't have any experience sharing the streets with light rail.Chris Zimmerman only cares about Chris Zimmerman and his pet people and projects.
Want to know who got to choose the stimulus funding projects that were sent down to Richmond for approval a few months ago? Zimmerman and Zimmerman's pet people.
Zimmerman wants Columbia Pike to look like his own neighborhood - a speed hump every 100 feet and ugly traffic choke points installed at every intersection.
Zimmerman is a racist and a nasty, nasty elitist. He not only wants the minorities out of Arlington but the middle class whites too. He tolerates a few "model minorities" just as the Byrd Machine did 50 years ago.
Zimmerman is a classic Reagan Yuppie.
Zimmerman is also a public transportation hypocrite. Every major building he has approved in the R-B corridor has parking for 300 or more vehicles beneath the building.
Zimmerman should be forced to testify under oath before both a congressional committee and a federal grand jury about what he and and when he knew what he knew about Metrorail safety.
Hypocrisy? Zimmerman refuses to even talk to Fairlington residents who want ART Bus service through Fairlington. Why? Because Zimmerman needs every dime he can obtain for his light rail system.
Zimmerman is a classic Reagan Yuppie. Sends his wife to work so he can spend his days micromanaging everyone else's life. Arlington is full of such people. You can see them in meetings all day every day at 2100 Clarendon Blvd thinking up more ways of wasting tax dollars on stupid projects that benefit them and their yupscale friends. With Zimmerman it's even worse, the projects feed his ego. We're going on 30 years of Reaganism, Yuppies, and Reaganomics. Enough already.
Zimmy is to light rail as Reagan was to Star Wars.
One light rail train ran into the other in SF yesterday. No fatalities. Ne 'telescoping'.Zimmerman keeps telling everyone the metrorail trains are not dangerous. They are dangerous as hell.
After the Space Shuttle disaster in 1986 NASA supposedly "fixed" the system. Chunks of ice and insulation falling off the Shuttle's external fuel tank during launches? Not a problem. Duh.Why won't I ride Metrorail? Take a look at the tracks, third rail, exposed electrical wiring. Covered with dirt and / or rust. WMATA apparently doesn't have a preventive track maintenance program! Apparently also does not have a PM program for the automatic train control system. When something breaks they fix it. Duh.Based on what I see and hear from Zimmerman he should not be on the County Board, WMATA Board, any board. I also want Zimmerman to answer the questions he was asked at the July 11th County Board meeting about the basic safety of the Metrorail system.
We asked Chris Zimmerman on several occasions for ART Bus service through Fairlington to Shirlington.ART Bus service through Fairlington to Shirlington could serve 10,000 residents of Fairlington and adjacent communities, and save many single-occupant vehicle trips. We have had no response from Mr. Zimmerman or Arlington County.Better Fairlington
We also asked Zimmerman to have the County upgrade the traffic signs in Fairlington. No response.
According to today's Post the problems with Metrorail track signal sensors are system wide and have been occurring for a long time. Thanks Zimmy.
We did receive a response from County Government about upgrading Fairlington's traffic signs. County Government will study the situation and determine the appropriate course of action.
Latest regarding infrastructure maintenance and upgrade in Fairlington is that only the County Board's ward heelers in Fairlington are getting their streets paved.
Chris Zimmerman is getting his wish fulfilled. Last week, the Alexandria, VA, City Council met with the Arlington County Board to discuss ways to "cooperate" on regional transportation projects. After raising property taxes by 9.6 percent this past tax year, the Zimmer man has finally gotten Uncle Sam (Barack Obama) to make yet another campaign promise to fund "infrastructure" projects so that people who are desperate enough to believe in sleazy local politicians like Zimmerman would be induced to vote for them rather than for the Green Party or the Republicans. Hand out money right before the election and people will vote for your guy no matter how repulsive, reckless or spendthrift he may be. While local kids won't have the Aurora Hills Library anymore, they'll be able to go to a 3,000'square ballroom in Rosslyn funded at millions of dollars worth of taxpayer money. While they don't have a safe Metro rail system, a system with safety procedures so lax, that, in fact, it killed 10 people recently in a horrific accident, they will have a trolley car on Columbia Pike leading straight to the Pentagon. This man is out of control but he will win and until the Federal Bureau of Investigation decides to look into his activities and all the taxpayers' money he is squandering he will keep on going and going and going like the Energizer rabbit. Come on, men in black, time for a change, as they say.
