Is Environmentalism an Oxymoron in Yupublicratic Arlington?

Is Environmentalism another bi-partisan charade in Arlington County?

Yes, under the Dictatorship of Emperor for Life Zimmerman renewable energy, 21st Century public transportation, and intelligent growth are major league charades.

If all the expensive gimmicks (e.g., Priuses that are costing a fortune to maintain, expensive environmental PR that's empty promises) were replaced by actual environmental projects we would have solar panels on the roofs of all school buildings and most other public buildings by now. And we wouldn't have to obtain energy from coal-fired power plants via huge transmission lines across rural Virginia. But no, our Yupublicratic local and state governments are gung ho for more of the same old same old.

Where is the renewable energy? You can see solar panels on the ground at the Pentagon power plant, just off the 395 shoulder. They've been putting kilowatts into the power grid for years. But no can do in Arlington. In Arlington the pols take a decade to replace a couple of suburban branch libraries. Did someone mention urban village idiots?

Why don't you ask Nanny Nancy Hunt, Zimmerman's Chair of the Arlington Planning Commission, about renewable energy? Of course if you ask her about renewable energy or anything else that she and her fellow Repigs consider "leftist" she will report you as a potential eco-terrorist to the Arlington PD.

Over a decade ago Arlington's PR machine started producing propaganda about how "Green" Arlington is.

Today there is still not one significant solar installation on any public building in Arlington.

How much has Arlington County spent on "Green" propaganda over the past decade. $10 million? $20 million?

We can't afford four more years of dumb growth anti-environment Republicrats.

What ever happened to Paulie Ferguson? Arlington's "Mr. Green" ten years ago?

Now he is clerk of the circuit court and the Arlington justice complex is undergoing renovation. Guess what? No renewable (solar) energy will be installed. Just the usual efficiency upgrades for older buildings. Way to go Paulie. We knew you could do it.

Paul Ferguson was and is another Yuppiecrat who milked and bilked the Green Movement and was responsible for approving the construction hundreds of energy-inefficient buildings as well as approving the addition of tens of thousands of polluting vehicles in Arlington during his 12 years on the County Board.

Talk about con artists and oxymorons, how about a thread concerning the Coalition for Smarter Growth?

Anonymous said...

Don't forget Nanny Nancy's predecessor as Planning Commission Chair, Carrie Johnson, who helped Paulie Ferguson make Arlington a paradigm of energy in-efficiency and then moved on - to Montana.

Coalitiion for Smarter Growth is doing phone banking for Obama. So I expect they will be able to BS the Obama Administration as well as they BS the local governments in this region.

Coalition for Smarter Growth is a total charade. Should be called the Coalition for Dumb Growth Gentrification, Massive Outer Suburb Sprawl, and Gridlock.

Let me tell you about "Mr. Green" Paul Ferguson and Arlington County Government.

Last year a street light was constantly on in front of my home. I called the Arlington County Manager's office to have it replaced and got the run-around. After 2 weeks I called Paul Ferguson at the County Board offices and his admin. assistant gave me another number to call. I called the number and was told that if I called to complain again I would be arrested.

The street light eventually burnt out and was replaced 3 months later.

DUMP FAVPLA, CARLEE, SCOTT, AND THE COUNTY BOARD'S REPUBLICAN WARD HEELERS !!! VOTE GREEN ON NOV. 4TH. !!!

Look at the homes of our upscale elected leaders. No renewable anything whatsoever.

Getting away from buildings, look at what SEPTA (South East Pennsylvania Transportation Authority) is doing in and around Philadelphia - replacing inefficient light rail with clean diesel buses. This is a transportation agency that's run light rail in and around Philadelphia for about 90 years. They know what they are doing.

Meanwhile in Arlington, Favola, Fisette, and Zimmerman are about to spend $140 million for a tourist trolley folly when what we need is a new high school.

Zimmerman wants an expensive and inefficient tourist trolley, like Tampa's, but Tampa has embarked on building an ambitious regional public transportation system for the 21st Century. Check it out at tbarta.com

How about thread about what happens with Gentrification J. Fisette as County Board Chair?

Anonymous said...

What do we get with Gentrification Jay, aka Giveaway Jay, aka Gourmet Jay Fisette as County Board Chair?

Accelerated removal of remaining "undesirable middle class and minority elements" from Arlington County. Beginning with the Barcroft Apartments blighted area.

Accelerated redevelopment, awarding bonus density to out-of-state redevelopers of formerly affordable middle class neighborhoods and their conversion into luxury Yuppie enclaves.

Creation of a two-class Arlington, a Yuppie Master Class and a minority Servant Class.

Creation of a de-facto apartheid police state, backed by a single party apartheid regime and supported by the apartheid local media.

Think it won't happen? The County Board is quickly moving toward total apartheid by 2013.

Barcroft Apartments needs to go, it is a slum. I also note that SEPTA is getting rid of inefficient trolleys because all it takes is one broken down truck to end the entire line. SEPTA is right in this and it is why Zimmerman's trolley thingie won;t work

John, spew your anti-minority hatred on your own blog or in the Sun-Gazette, OK? We have heard too much of your anti-minority anti-progressive hatred over the past 15 years.

Bottom line is that there is still no renewable - solar - energy on any public building in Arlington.

Arlington has one party - Yupublicratic - government at it's worst.

Anonymous said...

What will we get from Gentification Jay Fisette? More neighborhood redevelopment with the after tear-down addition of 143 McMansions, 18 huge upscale condo buildings with 350 parking spaces per building, 17 large office buildings with 450 parking spaces per building, 23 gourmet restaurants, 3 dog parks, and 14 units of affordable housing - per neighborhood.

Know what is a bigger charade than the LEED Score the Planning Commission uses to determine how "green" a building is? The conflicts of interest of the majority of the Planning Commission.

Anonymous said...

I lived in Arlington when I was in the Army 30 years ago.

Oxymoron? A federal "government worker" who gets to approve who in the neighborhood gets a flu shot.

No wonder the USA is screwed up !

If Antonelli and his girlfriend hadn't slandered the County Board he would still be on the Housing Commission and maybe the Planning Commission. So what does Antonelli say now? The people he slandered and pissed off are "crazy."

Anonymous said...

Oxymorons? How about a "federal worker" who is a "bank regulator" when she isn't a "flu shot facilitator"?

Anonymous said...

My father almost died of the flu in January (he had a flu shot but it was ineffective) and now some fat assed Republican club woman is out there playing politics with flu shots? Only in Arlington Virginia.

Anonymous said...

Next Jane Antonelli Barcroft (aka Arna Valley John) novel will be about the pro-affordable housing activists and they will be portrayed as crazies and terrorists.

Anonymous said...

What did you expect? Nanny Nancy majored in Social Control at Smith College and minored in Music Censorship.

Anonymous said...

Arlington Republicans will attack, slander, and start malicious rumors about any activist or activist group that tries to preserve affordable housing in Arlington. Count on it !!

Anonymous said...

I live in Michigan and my Congressman spends his time in our congressional district trying to get the economy going, not on the Capitol Hill party circuit. I am going to suggest to him it's about time that federal agencies begin to be re-located to states with serious economic problems and the next administration must look at what federal employees are actually doing when they are supposed to be working. It is shameful that federal employees spend their time at work starting rumors about poor people who have problems obtaining adequate housing.

Anonymous said...

Mr. Antonelli, stop posting your hate messages to this blog!

If some community social controller won't let you get a flu shot, check out your local supermarket or drugstore.
